Sacramento Valley

Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Yolo, Sacramento, and Solano Counties, California

The northern half of California's Great Valley, the Sacramento Valley produces rice and olives, fruits and nuts. It has historic towns and many wildlife refuges along the great river.

The only real city here is the state's capital, Sacramento. Historically California's second city, it almost lost its heritage to heedless freeway building in the 1960's, but Old Sacramento survived as a state park and historical district. The city has two beautiful rivers, old tree-shaded neighborhoods, and of course the Capitol building and its grounds.
