360° VR Panoramas of Lassen Volcanic Park and the Modoc Plateau
Burney Falls
MacArthur-BurneyFalls Memorial State Park, California

Teddy Roosevelt called it one of the wonders of the world, and most people agree. Burney Falls bursts in massive springs from the face of a cliff, framed in bowers of ferns, flowers and moss. Black swifts nest behind the falls, and can be seen swooping rapidly throught the mist.

It is often hot at the top of the falls, but never at the bottom, where it is always cool, moist, windy - and noisy! The water continues down a short canyon through lovely streamside vegetation and forest, then flows into Lake Britton on the Pit River.

This is one of the most popular of the state parks and the campground is full all summer. But there are lots of other camping possibilities in the adjacent forests.
