360° VR Panoramas of Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur and the Central Coast
Cambria
California

Cambria (the Roman name for Wales) got its start supporting the quicksilver mines at Los Burros in the mountains to the north. Next came the construction of Hearst Castle, followed by the continuing tourism boom. It is a quiet and pleasant town with a home-towny main street and wonderful coastal scenery.

The town is right in the middle of a Monterey pine forest, one of only three places these trees grow naturally (along with Ano Nuevo and the Monterey Peninsula). Nature is well cared for here, the citizens have done an excellent job of fending off major development.
