Capitola
South of Santa Cruz, California

Capitola is a small resort area centered on the beach at the mouth of Soquel Creek. It claims to be California's first resort development, dating from 1869. Because it is at sea level, rather than on the bluffs above, the developed area has been repeatedly inundated by floods and high surf during storms.
