Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park
Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, Coloma, California

James Marshall never profited much from his discovery or fame, but he is commemorated here with a statue on a high pedestal, pointing to the discovery site.

Coloma is on Highway 49, but is in between the major east-west routes 80 and 50, so it is not a busy place. Most people come here for the historic site or rafting on the American River.
