360° VR Panoramas of the Northern California Coast, Coast Ranges, and Redwood Highway
Ferndale
Humboldt County, California

Unlike the boom-and-bust lumber and mining towns of far northern California, Ferndale has always been a cow town. The dairy industry ensured stability and prosperity and the town reflects this in its numerous Victorian buildings. Main Street is lined with commercial buildings from the 1880's and 90's, and the back streets are dotted with gingerbread mansions and charming smaller houses and cottages.

"Victorian Ferndale" is a great place to visit, walk around, have a meal, stay in a bed and breakfast. It will be familiar to many as the setting for movies including "The Majestic" and "Outbreak", or its replica in the Legoland California Museum. Just get off Highway 101 at Fernbridge and drive across the cow pastures.
