The Goose Island Oak

The "Big Tree" at Goose Island State Park was declared the Texas champion in 1969. It is a coastal live oak (Quercus virginiana) with an average trunk diameter of 11 feet, a crown spread of 89 feet, and a height of 44 feet.

Fulton Harbor on the Texas Gulf Coast

Fulton Harbor on the Texas Gulf Coast

This is one of a number of small harbors and marinas along the shore north of Corpus Christi. They are mostly on the mainland coast, sheltered by a series of barrier islands. In addition to pleasure craft this harbor is home to a fleet of shrimping boats.
