360° VR Panoramas of Lake Tahoe, Northern Sierra, and the Gold Country
The Lakes Basin
Lakes Basin Recreation Area, near Graeagle, Plumas National Forest, California

The Lakes Basin is the northernmost bit of high country in the Sierra Nevada. It consists of Gold Lake, Long Lake, and a series of small glacial cirques and hollows containing another 20 alpine lakes. At the southwest corner of the area rise the rugged Sierra Buttes, famous for the vertiginous fire lookout perched on the highest pinnacle. The view of the Buttes from the Sardine Lakes is the most dramatic in the far northern Sierra.
