360° VR Panoramas of Lassen Volcanic Park and the Modoc Plateau
The Medicine Lake Highlands
Klamath National Forest, California

The Cascade Range is noted for its soaring stratovolcanoes like Mount Shasta, but it also has a number of huge hullking shield volcanoes, similar to those in Hawaii. Medicine Lake sits in the caldera at the top of one of these, surrounded by miles of gradually sloping lava flows and hundreds of cinder cones. Notable are the many lava tube caves and several flows of obsidian, black volcanic glass.

Medicine Lake and the surrounding area are sacred to Native Americans. There has been development of geothermal power.
