360° VR Panoramas of the Northern California Coast, Coast Ranges, and Redwood Highway
Mendocino Headlands State Park
Mendocino City, California

The beautiful coastal terrace and low cliffs west of the village of Mendocino originally belonged to a lumber company. In the 1970's they were scheduled for subdivision and development, which would not only have denied the public access to the coast, but changed the community forever.

A coalition of private and public interests purchased the open space for the state park. There is minimal development, just one restroom and a couple of benches, but almost everyone who visits Mendocino walks along the clifftops in this park.
