Stately Homes of Natchez
Natchez, Mississippi

The architectural glory of Natchez is not so much in the government and commercial buildings downtown, as in the antebellum mansions both in town and neaby. Many of these are open to the public, some are hotels or bed and breakfasts.

The big event of the year here is the Natchez Pilgrimage, two weeks in the fall when nineteen antebellum mansions open their doors. Many of them are still private homes, sometimes even lived in by descendants of the original owners, and open only during the Pilgrimage.
