North Star Powerhouse Museum
Grass Valley, California

This stone building was built in 1895 to supply power to the North Star Mine. It utilized the locally invented Pelton wheel to harness the power of the creek and produce compressed air for use in the mines.

The original 30-foot Pelton wheel, largest ever built, was rescued from the scrap heap and placed in the museum, along with numerous others and related minig exhibits.
