360° VR Panoramas of Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur and the Central Coast
Oceano
South of Pismo Beach, California

Oceano is the place where you can drive right off the street and onto the beach. It is the only state park where you can do this, and almost the only place in California where it is legal. The first mile is for street-legal vehicles only and no camping. South of Post 2 both camping and OHV play are allowed.

Dune-buggy type recreation is immensely popular and brings a lot of money into the adjacent communities. But it is incompatible with wildlife, natural vegetation, and most other forms of recreation. The dunes continue for many miles south of the OHV legal area.
