360° VR Panoramas of Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur and the Central Coast
Partington Ridge and Cove
On the Big Sur coast, California

A road ascends Partington Ridge through a scattering of homes with amazing views. At Partington Creek a trail descends to a tiny cove. Highway One obliterated a section of the creek and redwood forest here with a brutal embankment and culvert replacing a bridge.

At Partington Cove a tunnel leads through the rock to a dramatic "dog-hole" port. Tanbark and redwood lumber were loaded onto schooners here in the relatively calm waters of the cove.
