Port Arthur was one of the first petroleum refineries in Texas, and has grown through the years. There was a lot of security, so I had to shoot from the state highway that runs through the complex.

This was an interesting looking industrial area, with offshore drilling ships and specialized cargo ships, but I was not allowed to get any closer than the historical marker.

Sabine Pass main street port facilities

This is the old port area at the end of Broadway in Sabine Pass. The town has been largely wiped out by hurricanes (several times) and its center has moved several blocks inland.

Sabine Pass Lighthouse at Lions Park

Sabine Pass Lighthouse at Lions Park

When the Sabine Pass Lighthouse was declared obsolate, an effort was made to rescue it from its offshore location. The top of the tower now stands in Lions Park in the town of Sabine Pass.
