Savannah River
Georgia

The Savannah River forms the boundary between South Carolina and Georgia, with the city of Augusta on the fall-line and Savannah near its mouth. In the heyday of cotton it was an important shipping route and Savannah was the leading port city of the southeast.

In contrast to the leafy closed-in feel of most of the old town, River Street along the Savannah River is bright and wide open. Traffic on the river these days is mostly recreational.
