Signal Mountain is a long forested ridge rising above the sagebrush flats at the north end of jackson Hole. It offers excellent views of Jackson Hole, but only partial ones of the Teton Range, to every photographer's frustration. Many years ago I was up there during a thunderstorm and came close to being struck by lightning - prickling skin, sparks between my camera and umbrella shaft, hair standing on end - before we dove into the safety of our car.
