360° VR Panoramas of Yellowstone and Northern Wyoming
Skyline Drive Above Fremont Lake
North of Pinedale, Wyoming

Skyline Drive starts in Pinedale and climbs the ridgeline south of Fremont Lake from the high desert into the true mountains. There are tantalizing glimpses of the large lakes below - Willow Lake to the north, Half Moon Lake to the south, Fremont Lake directly below, but few good viewpoints. The Wind River Range Viewpoint near the end is especially frustrating, too low and too many trees. The road ends at Trails End, a high altitude jumping off point for the vast wilderness areas of the Wind River Range.

My memories of this road include the truly terrible mosquitoes and biting flies - a horse fly bit me on the calf as I was taking one of these panoramas, resulting in photographer/tripod/camera tumbling down the sagebrush slope (but no real damage done).
