Cape Lookout from the beach at Cape Lookout State Park

Cape Lookout is a narrow finger of rugged basalt, half a mile wide and a mile long, that juts out abruptly from the coast just south of Netarts Bay. A 2.5 mile trail leads to the tip of the promontory.

Sand Lake Beach and estuary

Sand Lake Beach and estuary

Sand Lake is something of a paradox, with peaceful natural beach, estuary, and dunes, adjoining a busy and very noisy off-road vehicle area. The campground is very nice, but be ready for a constant parade of dune buggies, motorcycles and ATV's.

Daley Lake viewpoint at Neskowin

Daley Lake viewpoint at Neskowin

A broad view area at the north end of Neskowin gives a nice introduction to this pleasant vacation community. A small freshwater lake and marsh is trapped between the dunes and the first coastal ridge.
