360° VR Panoramas of Mount Shasta and the Klamath-Trinity Mountains
The Trinity River Gold Country
Shasta-Trinity National Forest, California

Completing the similarity of the Trinity Alps to the Sierra Nevada is the foothill gold country along the Trinity River. It boomed just after the Mother Lode of the Sierra, but continued much longer, with hydraulic mining continuing to World War II. Enthusiasts still extract small amounts of gold from pockets in the river bed with scuba gear and underwater vacuums.

Weaverville is an historical gem, with a main street dating mostly from the nineteenth century. Several buildings have spiral outdoor staircases leading to second story offices. Weaverville also has California's most impressive early joss house, built by Chinese gold miners and laborers.
