360° VR Panoramas of Lake Tahoe, Northern Sierra, and the Gold Country
Truckee
North of Lake Tahoe, California

Truckee is an old railroad town, though now more concerned with traffic on Interstate 80. It is located between the grade up to Donner Pass on the west, and the descent into the Truckee River Canyon to the east.

The main street through Truckee is the old Donner Pass Road, lined with restored historic buildings. My wife and I stayed at the old Truckee Hotel after getting married in Reno, in the Presidential Suite.Town of Truckee

Truckee has always been divided by the railroad tracks, with most of the downtown on the north side. Surprisingly, there is no crossing gate, presumably because trains through here either stop or go very slowly.
