The Vicente Flat trail In the Santa Lucia Mountains
Los Padres National Forest, California

This is a trail that could only exist in Big Sur. It starts at sea level and climbs steadily across brushy slopes and grassy ridges until it enters redwood forest at 1600 feet. From there it climbs even more steeply to the coast ridge at 3000 feet, and beyond to Cone Peak a mile high.
