Yucca House access is through a ranch

It really felt like we were dropping in to visit somebody's home, going up the driveway and parking by their lawn. But signs clearly pointed to the boardwalk and gate leading to the unexcavated pueblo beyond.

The only substantial wall at Yucca House

Compared to Chaco with thousands of rooms, and Mesa Verde with multi-story towers, Yucca House is underwhelming. This seems to be the only wall still standing (or rebuilt) in what was once a substantial pueblo.

Vague pits and a few low stone walls at Yucca House

Despite the lack of obvious ruins, archeologists estimate that this site may once have consisted of 600 rooms with 100 small kivas and a great kiva.

Shallow pits and swales mark locations of buildings at Yucca House

Many pueblos on flat ground looked like this before excavation and/or restoration. Only an expert eye would even notice that this was once a human habitation built of stone.
