Don Bain's 360° Panoramas of
Las Vegas and Southern Nevada
Dazzling and astonishing, the glitter, glamor, audacity and sheer silliness of the Las Vegas Strip cannot fail to impress. Several of the world's largest hotels are found here, and newer even larger ones added every year. Beyond the Strip one finds a fairly normal city that spreads for miles - the fastest growing city in the country.
But take an hour's drive in any direction and you are out in the desert. There is spectacular scenery in all directions, Red Rock Canyon to the west, Valley of Fire to the northeast, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead on the Colorado River to the east. Further out are inhabited ghost towns like Pioche and vast open spaces along the Great Basin and Extraterrestrial Highways to Tonopah.
Nevada's state boundaries are marked with cluster of casinos, Primm on the California line, Mesquite on the interstate to Utah, and Laughlin, a miniature Vegas on the Colorado River.
