Mission San Francisco de la Espada - 1690

Wikipedia article: Mission San Francisco de la Espada

thumbnail - Well and church at Espada Mission

I think this alcove formed by the monastery wing, chapel, and well, at Espada Mission is the most picturesque spot in all the five San Antonio River missions. The garden is obviously cared for, the church is rough and ancient looking but in excellent condition. This is the furthest of the chain of missions from the city of San Antonio and gets the fewest visitors, so it is very peaceful.
