Don Bain's 360° Panoramas
How Best to explore the 360° Images
I have designed this site to be viewed as a series of geographic slide shows. You can click sequentially to see every single image in a Region.
- first select a Region of interest, such as 'Northern and Interior Alaska'
- then choose a Place, such as 'Chicken'
- click the button for fullscreen or resize the window for optimal view
- spin the panorama around, zoom in and out
- click the button to change the mode between drag and spin as you prefer, or click the button for auto-rotate
- click the button 'next 360' to continue the slideshow, or click a thumbnail image
- note the checkmarks that appear on thumbnails - when you have seen all the 360's of this place click the button 'next place'
- when you have seen all the Places in the Region click the button for 'go to region' or 'website home'
When viewing a panorama you can:
- zoom in and out with the + and - buttons, a mouse wheel, or a trackpad
- display a map
- hide the thumbnails
- hide the title and caption
- hide everything except the image
Click the "simple view' button to reduce the controls to just:
- left arrow for 'previous 360'
- right arrow for 'next 360'
- double-arrow for 'next place'
- up arrow for 'go to region'
- down arrow for 'website home'
It is also possible to use the arrow keys on computer keyboards to navigate as enumerated above under 'simple view', and to zoom in and out with the key combinations 'command +' and 'command -' ('control +' and 'control -' on Windows).
If viewing on a phone or tablet you can scroll the image by moving the device. In an immersive environment such as a headset look around by turning your head.
